Aurea Charming Suite is a space suspended between heaven and earth that is conquered step by step. Having reached the destination, the gratification is that of being enveloped by the material light that emits the Cathedral, San Pietro, which seems to coexist naturally with those who live in the house. We are in the Quartiere d'Oriente, a historic district of Modica which is now a fascinating melting pot of local, national and international cultures and experiences. Aurea was the subject of a targeted restyling, by the architect and light designer Massimo Carnemolla, who, playing on contrasts and assonances, "gave light" to the new rooms of the house. The underlying theme of the intervention was to create a visual and chromatic dialogue, without interruptions, with the bulky and powerful presences that protagonize the context.
Hence the choice of gold as a conduit thread which allowed the creation of walls and casings that recall the gold of the niches and chapels of the surrounding basilicas. A playful but intense game that the new hosts made and introjected, aware that the choice of furnishings had to represent a sort of dressing in line with the geometries and rules of a bourgeois house typical of the Val di Noto. Pursuing this philosophy, the choice of furnishings was also made thanks to the expert and discreet advice of Giorgio Puglisi, an antiques dealer and restorer from Modica. Antique furniture from the early 1900s has been housed in the two large rooms of the house without, however, giving up some risks. In fact, some pieces of contemporary design have been included such as the Driade Nemo armchair, the Brass 95 suspension lamp by Gervasoni and the Ditre Sanders model sofa. In the sleeping area, a tailored pink Ergogreen bed stands out, with a hint of vanity. Finally, the total black bathroom interrupts the pre-existing chromatic play by creating a separate environment
