Description
one is fascinated by the splendid view of the Gulf of Palermo and the characteristic fishing village that grew up around a small church built in a cave by the sea and a pilgrimage destination, where various nobles wanted to build their residences at Acquasanta. In 1774, the monastery of San Martino delle Scale ceded the church and surrounding land to Baron Mariano Lanterna, who built a charming holiday house. In 1871, the Pandolfo brothers priests bought the church, spring and surrounding area from the heirs and set up a mineral baths establishment there. Villa Lanterna Gravina has a simple and refined layout. On the façade is a small double flight of stairs with a tufa balustrade. Late 18th century frescoes embellish the main hall and the small chapel, whose altar faces the sea.
